Totally Technicolor!

Please extend a warm welcome to Hollie Chastain, a full-time found paper and collage artist residing in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

"Conjure"

"We Choose the In-between"

"Passing a Message"

A creative spirit and early interest in art led to dabbling in watercolor, pottery, and glass before settling into collage as a medium of choice. Influenced by nature and fairy tales, she lets water stains, scribble and natural aging play into her pieces. The subject of the piece is often influenced by the materials as opposed to building around a sketch or idea. She creates a world of adventure and secrets open for the viewer's interpretation.
"Afterthought"

"Future"
"Gilbertville Public Library I"

"The First Freedom"

We are IN LOVE with what these prints do to our walls.
The mixture of technicolor, and black & white on aged paper --every single piece is absolutely breathtaking!
Price Range: $20-30 per print

In With a Grin....

Please welcome Keely O'Brien from White Rock, British Columbia!

In this intense world we live in, it's easy at times to lose sight of the beauty and whimsy that is all around us, if you really open yourself up to it.
Art like this, with its cheerful color combinations and delicate charm, acts as a sweet little reminder of that beauty.
Thanks, Keely!

A hearty ROAR....

Please welcome Justin Simick (reddoveart) from Mt. Shasta, CA!

"In the earliest traditions, the supreme being was represented by a sphere, the symbol of a beginning with no end, continually existing, perfectly formed and profoundly symmetrical.

Natural circles, such as the moon and sun, have been observed since before recorded history. Medieval scholars of early science-- particularly geometry, astrology and astronomy-- believed that there was something intrinsically “divine” or “perfect” that could be found in circles.

This work is an exploration of the unique geometry, symmetry and symbolism it represents. As a drawn symbol it’s myth and meaning is both universal and specific: representing the basis of matter, time… even the universe and consciousness. As a pattern it denotes movement, rhythm and harmony, suggesting both scale and sound..." --Justin Simcik, Red Dove Art

Justin executes inventive, abstract acrylic paintings on wood panel exploring the symmetry & aesthetic of the circle as curvilinear form and dynamic rings of astral color.
Such a bright addition to our shop! $40 for each original piece....Come grab your own!

New in shop!

You guys may already be familiar with Jayne Bickerton of Voodooville from Manchester, England........she does our lovely steam punk jewelry!
Come check out her Mad Men inspired artwork and earrings, new in store today.
(and Morrissey!)
Also a warm welcome to Jill Porter of Danville, CA! Here at The Dandy Lion we are huge fans of upcycling. We built a majority of our shop space from salvaged materials and found objects...and many of our artists love making old things new again. Jill's beautiful jewelry made from salvaged aluminum cans simply adds to our overall earth-friendly aesthetic.

Did you know recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to run a 100-watt bulb for 20 hours, a computer for 3 or a tv for 2? (EPA, 2008)

You know that old saying....one man's trash is another's treasure.....

Lots o' Liony love,
The Lions
